If you’re struggling with emotional difficulties like anxiety or low mood and think you need support, you can seek help from our registered counsellor. The Counselling Unit at IUMW is a free confidential service available to foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate students of the University. Counsellors are trained in human behaviour and understand the importance of confidentiality.
Counselling is the skilled and principled use of relationships to facilitate self- knowledge, emotional acceptance and growth, and the optimal development of personal resources. The aim is to provide an opportunity to work towards living more satisfyingly and resourcefully. Counselling relationships will vary according to need but may be concerned with developmental issues, addressing and resolving specific problems, making decisions, coping with crises, developing personal insights and knowledge, working through feelings of inner conflict, or improving relationships with others.
